Hello, I am Vincent! I'm currently a third year Computer Science student at UCF.

At this point in my college career, I have established the foundations of programming after taking Data structures and algorithms as well as Object-Oriented Programming. I have also gained experience in software development in the "Processes of Object-Oriented Software Development" (POOSD) course.

I'm interested in pursuing a Software Engineer position. More specifically, I would like to either get into backend or Database development. In the POOSD course, I learned how to implement a MongoDB database for an app dubbed "Reserv" so that student organizations would be able to resrve rooms for events.

Experience

Learning Assistant

UCF Math Launch

The Math Launch program exists for students to advance to calculus at a rapid pace covering College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus topics in one semester. As an LA, I assisted students with these topics which required me to be proficient in all of these topics. I spent six hours a day three days a week for the duration of this position.

Projects

Reserv

Software Development

This project's purpose was to automate the process of UCF student organizations reserving rooms for events. The team I worked with used a MERN stack with Flutter for our mobile interface. I designed the database using MongoDB for flexible transferring of data because of its NoSQL properties.

ASCIIDS

Discord bot

I created a Discord bot that allows users to visualize Linked List and Array data structures. The way it works is the user chooses to create one of the structures and inserts or deletes values via the bot, which then allows the bot to print the values that are currently in the structure.

My goal going into this project was to create a learning tool for computer science students while staying in a familiar environment like Discord. In the future, I could implement other data structures like binary trees or hash tables to make this application more useful for students.

Contact Manager

Software Development

In this project, I managed a team of four in order to build a basic web application for users to keep track of their contacts. Along with being a project manager, I also created a database using MySQL so that data could be transferred and manipulated with no discrepancies.

Compiler

Systems Software

How this project works is when given an input in the form of a "PL/0" program, it scans through the input and verifies its lexical and syntactical elements and outputs corresponding assembly instructions of the input.

Interests

Apart from being a full-time college student, I enjoy spending time with my friends by going to different places in the Orlando area. We spend a lot of out time at this place called "Arcade Monsters" that has different arcade and rhythm games that we seem to never get tired of. We also go to anime conventions and "cosplay" different characters to make our con-going experience more interactive and fun.

Other hobbies of mine include learning about technical stuff that might enhance my programming experience or just things that I think are interesting to do/ practice. I like to learn about the capabilities of Latex, in order for documents that I write using it look more well put-together. I'm also thinking about getting a Raspberry Pi to learn how to program it and make something cool.
